section, please According to the Bible, the first man blamed the first sin on the first woman. Gen. 3:12. Woman was subsequently put under the rule of her husband. Gen. 3:16. From Genesis through Revelation, Bible women are objects of scorn; despised and abused. The only Bible stories praising Woman are those wherein she abases herself before men. In most Instances, Bible Woman is an innocent victim. Bilhah was Rachel's handmaid (slave) and Jacob's concubine. Her children were claimed by Rachel as Rachel's own. Not only Jacob, but his son, Reuben, used Bilhah. Bilhah bore Dan and Naphtall, both claimed as her own by Rachel. Rachel's claim was so secure that Naphtall, Bilhah's natural son cohabited with his own mother and fathered four children by her. Gen. 29:29, 30:3-7, 35:22- 25, 46:24-25, 1 Chr. 7:13. No black slave in the American South was ever owned so totally, or with such disregard as an individual. In Num. 31:17-18, Moses says to his officers, "Now, therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." That amounted to 32,000 small girls given to the Hebrew army, 64 of which were butchered and sacrificed to Yahweh, who was present in the camp. Num. 31:35,40,41,46,47. When Absalom captured his father David's home, he took David's ten concubines up to the roof and raped them in the sight of all Israel. When David recaptured the area, he imprisoned the innocent concubines, manless, for life. And the Lord decreed it. 2 Sam. 12:11, 16:21,22, 20:3. For a woman to read these passages, and dozens similar, and still believe that Abraham, Moses and David were good men is an exercise in mind-boggling stupidity. But such belief persists, and in many cases justifies the Bible writers' low opinion of women. Old Testament Woman was chattel property, whether wife or concubine. New Testament Woman, through Greek and Roman learning and law, was in a slightly better position. Yet, the advent of Jesus killed women's lib for about 2,000 years. Jesus had no use for women and chose his disciples, partly on the basis of their antipathy toward Woman and Woman's familial role. "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and bretheren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26. That this passage was not simply rhetorical was shown when Jesus spoke his true mind to a woman triply vulnerable. She was of foreign descent (Greek), mother of a sick child and in need of some of Jesus' reputedly boundless love. Mark 7:25-30 When she begged Jesus to heal her child he answered, "Let the children (of Israel) first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and cast it unto the dogs." As a Greek undoubtedly educated in logic she replied, "Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs". At this, the account states that her child was healed. Thus, only when she acknowleged that she and her little daughter were dogs did he help her. And since then, how many women have grovelled before other pompous asses who had the power to withhold their children's needs? The reinforcement of Woman's inferiority was accomplished by Paul, Peter and John. 1 Cor. 11:3,7,8,9 1 1 Tim. 2:9-12, 1 Pet. 3:1-7. Woman, the mainstay of the Church, is to have no say in its function. 1 Cor. 14:34,35. It Paul were heeded to the letter, aside from what she learned from her mother, a woman would have no education except that given her by her husband. Paul even implied that Woman is so hopeless that child-bearing is her only chance for salvation. 1 Tim. 2:14,15. John would have even denied Woman the opportunity of childbearing. In Revelation he described the 144,000 redeemed as, "These are they which were not defiled with women;..." Rev. 14:3,4. Babylon, the great whore, is naturally a woman. Rev. 17:1-16. Women have been abused with epithets taken from that chapter ever since It was written. These hateful men, who were less than men, have had a great appeal for women who are timid, lazy and Ignorant. Of course, the system such women helped to build is very hard on women capable of thought and enterprise. Until superior women nullify the effects of the Bible, most western women will remain willingly inferior.
